My Review of Breaking Busy

Breaking Busy Review

This past year can be summed up in two words: Launch Teams. I had my first Launch Team experience with Jen Hatmaker and her book For The Love. Nothing will compare to that experience, BUT… launch teams in and of themselves are amazing. My most recent experience was for the book Breaking Busy by Alli Worthington.

I had never heard of Alli before, but considering all the books I had read this past year about “busyness” I was highly interested in reading this book. This book did not disappoint.

In Breaking Busy Alli shares her personal stories about how busyness almost broke her and how listening to the still small voice of God is the key to not letting busyness win. She outlines a well-crafted process for distinguishing God’s promptings and praying through them. Her obedience even when her future was unclear is a testimony to His providence.

“We don’t always have to know what God’s plans are for us, only that they are better than we could ever dream and always for the best. When He brings us to a fork in the road, we won’t know what lies beyond the choice of obedience or disobedience, but we do know that His ways are better and wiser than ours.” {Alli Worthington – Breaking Busy}

She also provides a great method for reading through the Bible and asking yourself certain questions to make what you are reading applicable to you.

I also love how every chapter has an Action Plan at the end containing questions to move you forward in your journey to Breaking Busy.

One of the greatest things that spoke to me was this:

“Each of us is called to do something great in this world. And even if the circumstances and the timing are difficult, discovering the place where we get to do what we were created to do is a great gift.” {Alli Worthington – Breaking Busy}

That. We are ALL called to do something great. And this…

“Whatever your age or season of life, new adventures are waiting for you. Walking in your God-given destiny is the best kind of life you can possibly live. True, your life may still be busy. But instead of breaking you, your busyness will bless you, and it will bless the world God sent you to serve. And in a world full of senseless striving, you will have the joy of living out your God-given, unique, and wonderful purpose.” {Alli Worthington – Breaking Busy}

So what is God whispering to you? What do you need to do to break the busy in your life? How can your busyness bless you?

This blog is my answer. I am here because I feel it is where God has led me for this season, and I pray that it will be a blessing to you, but more importantly, Him.

So break busy and come live the full life!
