A Day in the Life – Homeschooling

So, you may be wondering to yourself, “what do they do all day?” or ” I wonder what they do for school.” I get it. I do. When you do not know about something, if you have not experienced it first hand, or if you have never really talked with someone who has, you often wonder what some things are like. What really crushes me, is when people completely dismiss being able to do something, like homeschooling, before they even really know what it looks like… and it can look a million different ways. That is the beauty of homeschooling. So, I thought I would take you on a tour through our day, so you can have an idea of what it is like…

My day starts like this….  { Continue Reading}

Mother’s Day – What Gift Could Be Better?

You all know what the next holiday is, right? If you don’t, that is a big, big, huge mistake.

Mother’s Day is 11 days away. Count them: 1, 2, 3…Ok, you get the idea, you are running out of time. Have you thought about what you are going to be getting your Mother for Mother’s Day… or if you are a Mother – what subtle hints you will be leaving around the house???

Well, I am here to tell you about what I have asked for already bought myself for Mother’s Day. Yes, I already bought it. Whatever. At least I’m not making my husband and kids get up at 4:30 in the morning to drive 5 hours to Willow Creek Church outside of Chicago to hear Jen Hatmaker speak on Mother’s Day like I did last year. Bless them.

So, have I dragged this on enough? Are you ready to hear what I got and what you will want? {Continue Reading}

So, Why A Blog?

I have started a blog.

This has been months in the making and I am excited that I am finally able to launch this thing and hit “Publish.”

Months ago, I started getting a little nudge that I needed to write. I felt and still feel that God is asking me to write… a book. That seems like such a huge leap. When the time is right I will share more about the book, but for now – I am here. Blogging, and… living the full life.

Our lives go through seasons, and I have gone through (and survived) the season of sleepless nights, the season of changing diapers and nursing babies. I have gone through the season of feeling like I couldn’t leave my house with four kids in tow. Now let me clarify the last one… it is not always easy, and it is usually always chaotic, but I no longer feel like I can’t do it.

Right now I am in a season of embracing this life, and my family. I am seeing daily how the saying “the days are long but the years are short” is indeed true. My babies are growing up and I want to live the full life with them and with Jeff.

So, what is “living the full life?” {Continue Reading}

To The Mom Whose Kids Are Not Getting On The Big Yellow Bus

Dear Homeschool Mom,
As we are getting ready to start our new homeschool year, there are a few thoughts that I have been pondering that I want to share with you. So this is for you – To The Mom Whose Kids Are Not Getting On The Big Yellow Bus.

You Got This!
I remember when I first started the journey to homeschooling. I had so much fear and uncertainty that I was capable of this calling. That I wouldn’t do a “good enough” job. That I would fail. Let me tell you, those thoughts and fears are empty because this is a CALLING! I know that this is what God has called me to do for this season of mine and my children’s life. If you are having all the anxious thoughts, let me reassure you that if God has called you to this, he will equip you with the tools you need. This journey may not be easy and filled with kids skipping through fields holding hands, but YOU CAN DO IT! {Continue Reading}
