I know some of you may not like this word; however, I believe that livin’ on a budget is vital to Living the Full Life.
I know some of you may cringe at the word Budget. I get this – I used to too. Although I was always financially responsible, I never lived with an actual budget until I was married. When my husband told me, I was going to need to stop going to Target so much, I cried. I didn’t understand. Why are you doing this to me?However, 13 years later – being on the other side, I can tell you that a budget is essential to living the full life.
With a budget, we are able to prepare for our kid’s future with college savings, put money away for when we need new vehicles (I’m looking at your Ford Transit) and are getting ready to build the home of our dreams. We would not be where we are or be able to do the things we do if we did not live with a budget. Well, let me correct that. We probably could do the things we did; it would just involve us becoming bound to debt. When you are under the control of debt you are not able to fully live.
The Bible has a lot to say about money and finances. Pretending it is not important is only hindering how fully you are able to live.
Final Thoughts on Livin’ On A Budget
I highly recommend Dave Ramsey Financial Peace. It is an eye-opening course to not only help you establish and live with a budget, but it guides you through how to eliminate debt and start emergency savings.
